DPS is the only service in the region to provide both Liquid Based Cytology (LBC), only service to provide PCR based STD, Infectious & Genetic testing from single vial of LBC, cervical swabs, urethral swabs and urine; only service to report all these results in one report and is available with in a week.
- Complete comprehensive non-gyn and fluid cytology. Only service to provide onsite adequacy check for FNA. Only service to provide esoteric testing on FNAs to get the best out of the specimens you give us. Patients are thrilled to receive a preliminary report!

The process of sending consultations will initially be via Fedex Priority Overnight using provided mailers and paid for by Doctors Pathology Services. This will continue to be used until our route for your area is established. The person sending the consult will need to follow the instruction card located in each mailer. A preliminary report will be emailed to the submitting physician within 24 hours and a final report will be completed within 24 to 48 hours.

DPS is proud of the professional consultation and other services we provide to various medical specialties, educational institutions, non-profit healthcare organizatons and R&D facilities . We not only have the dedicated staff for the various capabilities, each pathologist has atleast one one area of subspecialty expertise with extensive ability to use the large array of esoteric testing available (IHC, FISH, PCR, DIF ec.) on both tissue and fluid (Gyn and non-gyn) based diagnoses.

DPS offers a variety of specimen collection services :
- Adequacy check for Needle Aspirations: Call to schedule or for STAT.
- Bone marrow: Submit as routine; collect one yellow and one green top tube for additional studies if needed; submit peripheral blood smear and blood count if available. Reviewed by a hematopathologist.
- Breast tumor markers: Performed in house on formalin fixed tissue specimens (fresh and frozen tissues are obsolete) and reported routinely unless specified as "do not perform".
- Chlamydia/GC/HPV testing: Can be done from the same vial of ThinPrep as for cytology.
- Crystal identification in fluids: Submit in a purple-top Vacutainer.
- Cytogenetics for POC: Collect in RPMI media provided to the center; if none available, collect in sterile saline and call for a STAT pick up.
- Frozen sections: Can be on a regular or as needed schedule; ASAP service available; Call to arrange a schedule.
- Lymph nodes: Submit as a routine; reviewed by a hematopathologist.
- Malaria & other blood borne parasite detection: Call for a STAT pick up.
- Microbiology cultures: Submit as routine; indicate if Gram stain needs to be called – provide telephone number.
- Muscle Biopsy Processing: Call to schedule; ASAP service available.
- Needle Aspirations: Only thyroid aspirations require smears; the rest submit in cytology fixative provided; rinse needle well.
- Non-gynecological Cytology: No smears needed, squirt and rinse needle in the cytology fixative provided; if none available, call for STAT pick up.
- On site Gram’s stain interpretation: Call to schedule or for ASAP service.
- Pap Smears: ThinPrep is recommended for patient convenience and cost of service. Cytopathologist available.
- Routine biopsies: Submit in formalin containers provided; label as indicated. Dermatopathologist available.
- Second Opinion: For DPS send as routine or DPS can arrange for it to be picked up; for DPS cases, we will deliver.
- Tzanck smears: Submit air-dried smears and will be called as STAT if positive.
